| Improving the sound quality |
The following points are worth noting for improvement in the sound quality of your Sound Scheduler system:-
- The person's voice who records Sound Scheduler messages. Some people's voices are more suited to recording than others (that's why radio
announcer's get paid what they do). Find the best voice for your recordings.
- Consider organising some professionally recorded messages. We have been informed by some customers that local radio stations or DJ's can often
provide such services at very competitive prices. Professionally created sound files are often produced in MP3 or WMA format (see MP3 & WMA
Notes below for more information on MP3 & WMA formatted files).
- Better quality equipment such as microphone, sound card and PA system speakers may provide good improvements in sound quality. Feel free to contact us regarding the best combinations of sound cards and computer hardware.
- Re-positioning PA speakers in the store may help. (Also note that general background music requires fewer speakers than spoken messages).
- holding a small piece of foam over the end of your microphone may help reduce "fuzzy" noise.
- holding the microphone on your chin when recording messages may help.
- using short connection leads between the stereo system, computer and PA system can help reduce interference.
- check all the Windows volume controls to ensure volume settings are correct.

MP3 & WMA Notes
Media drivers for different version of Microsoft software can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp.
These come standard with current Microsoft operating systems but were not included with earlier versions of Windows 95 and Windows 98. If you are using a
pre-2001 Windows version, you will need to download the media drivers from the above address before MP3 or WMA files can be used.
